WPC: Edge

Update:  Below I referred to the bridge as the ‘Moon Bridge’; but according to San Francisco Parks, it’s actually called the Drum Bridge.

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge for the week of September 9, 2016.

This week, share your own interpretation of “edge.” Take a photo from an actual edge, like a balcony, a window, or a seaside bluff (wherever you are, stay safe!). Focus on a sharp angle or object, or show us the outer margins of a building, a face, or a book.

This was my first visit to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park since sometime in the early 1970s, and I chose the Japanese Tea Garden as my first stop.

I remembered struggling as a child to climb up over this bridge, and now I’d finally returned for another chance!  Still, I hesitated — I felt a little silly climbing it all on my own, surrounded by small kids and giggling young couples.

But once the crowd drifted away, I knew I might never have this opportunity again… so up I climbed!

Proof that I climbed the Moon Bridge

It wasn’t much easier as an adult than it had been all those years ago — but the view was well worth the effort!

  1. The Japanese tea garden is so gorgeous. It is one of those places people skip out on when they are visiting. I’ve been recommending it to all my guests for ages now.
    The bridge is a wonder!
    Thank you for this post.
