The Adventure Continues… Historic Horses

Recently I met a wonderful lady at the Roseville auction who was working as a volunteer to benefit The Last Wild Place mustang refuge in Nevada. She was passionate about her love for these beautiful horses and the need to give them a safe place to live and run free.

I was thinking of her when I chose this episode of California’s Gold, which features a segment on Arabian horses — and a segment on the annual reenactment of the historic Pony Express run leaving Old Sacramento and heading east on their 2,000-mile ride. I was lucky to be on Sutter Street last June when the riders came galloping into Folsom. How exciting that was!

Join Huell and enjoy one of California’s oldest and exciting traditions at the W. K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center at Cal Poly Pomona where, for over 60 years, monthly horse shows feature beautiful, pure-bred Arabian horses. Then hit the trail and trace the history of the Pony Express riders at the annual Pony Express Re-run in Sacramento as present-day riders re-enact this bit of Old West experience.
