The theme of Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week is Winter — Water.

You can take photos of anything that relates to the season of Winter or Water.    Have fun with this challenge.

Because Folsom Lake is a reservoir and a major source of water for the eastern part of Sacramento County, we’re used to seeing the water levels drop dramatically every winter. When the winter snow pack in the Sierra Nevada melts in the spring, the runoff fills the lake, making it a fine place for boating and other types recreation.

But anyone willing to do some hiking in the winter can explore the dry portions of lake bed, often finding small artifacts from the 1850s through the mid 1950s, when Folsom Dam was constructed.
