Hinkle Creek Trail

It took me awhile, but I finally got around to exploring the nearby Hinkle Creek Trail. Over the last few years there’s been some controversy around a plan by the City of Folsom to build a road right through this small greenbelt for a sewer maintenance road. The plan called for ripping out as many as 250 mature oak trees — and that sounded like a really terrible idea to a lot of people who live in the area and love the trail.  Fortunately, it seems a compromise is now being worked out to allow for the needed maintenance without destroying the trees.

I visited this 1.5 mile trail early one weekday morning and had the entire place to myself. It’s a wonderfully peaceful pocket of nature in the middle of suburbia. Hopefully it will be here for generations to come.
