Summing up: 2017 in review

The final sunset of 2017

This has been a year of fun new adventures and experiences for me. I spent a few days in San Francisco and I’ve done more exploring around Sacramento and Folsom, always with my camera at the ready and the blog as my primary motivation. I’d like to think my artistic eye and my photography skills are improving, although I’m sure they both still need a lot of work. When I’m out looking for subjects to shoot, my mantra has become: Light, Detail, Story.

Just like last year, my most popular posts have been the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenges — not too surprising, since so many of us Word Press bloggers take part. Below are some of my most popular WPC posts of 2017.

It’s been fascinating looking back through my posts in 2017 and — even though I’m definitely not a numbers person — comparing this year’s stats to the stats from 2016. I’ve certainly done a lot more publishing this year: in 2016 I published 223 blog posts, and in 2017 I increased that number to 545 (including this one).

My total views jumped from 5,480 in 2016 to 16,052 in 2017; and the number of readers clicking Like on my posts has increased from 4,045 in 2016 to 9,540 in 2017. So again, thank you for all your support and your comments. I truly appreciate all of you!

I’ve also really enjoyed participating in Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge and Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge, and I hope to keep doing so during the new year. Below is a slide show with a few of my images from Cee’s challenges.

Finally, I thought I’d include some of my favorite images from the past year (aside from those I already mentioned in last week’s WPC: 2017 Favorites post). I hope the coming year is a happy and healthy one for every one of my fellow Word Press bloggers and all my other readers. Cheers!
