WPC: A Face in the Crowd

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge for the week of February 21, 2018.

For this week’s photo challenge, try your hand at a different type of portrait… Explore the use of anonymity to express both that which is common to all of us and the uniqueness that stands out even when the most obvious parts of us are hidden. Just as all of us can oscillate between conformity and individualism, allow your photo to do the same.

On my blog I usually try very hard to respect my other half’s wish for anonymity; I refer to him as “the Big Guy,” and I normally don’t show his face in my images, choosing instead to shoot him in silhouette or from behind. But by photographing him this way, I believe I also manage to demonstrate a very important part of his personality — his pure focus and intensity as he strides along the trail in search of the perfect fishing spot, or fights to land a fish, or picks his way carefully along a rocky ledge to release his prize catch back into the water.

  1. I think you illustrated what your other half loves doing. He looks so at home in these photos. Really like that shot of the spray all around him. Hope your camera didn’t get wet 🙂

  2. Chris, thanks so much for your photos and incite. I am trying to write a poem about the big guy. will share it if I ever get it finished. Love
