San Francisco Bay has seen plenty of ships come and go since the days of the California Gold Rush. In this episode of California’s Gold, Huell learns a few things about the long hard sea journey around Cape Horn, surviving on lemonade and hardtack, and what it takes to handle sails and raise the anchor.

Huell sails aboard the state’s official tall ship, Californian to see just how hard it was for our early settlers to get here. He also enjoys some sea shanties.
