June is a very exciting time for the two young bald eagles in our area — as well as for those who have been watching their progress these last three months. The youngsters have finally left their nest and are stretching their wings, starting to explore their environment, and flexing their talons as they learn to hold onto branches… and other things. It won’t be long before they’ll be learning how to catch fish and to find food for themselves. They’ll need to learn their lessons quickly, because fairly soon Mom and Dad will fly away to the north, leaving their offspring to continue the maturing process on their own.
