Just passing through?

I noticed this small butterfly along the bike trail a couple of days ago, and I’ve been trying to identify it ever since. I’m certainly no butterfly expert, but clearly it’s not a swallowtail. After searching Google, the nearest match seems to be Colias alfacariensis, also known as Berger’s clouded yellow. The problem is that this species seems to be found only in Europe and the Far East. So I don’t know if my ID is completely wrong (always a possibility), or this little guy has wandered seriously off course.

  1. It looks like a Skipper Butterfly. They show up this time of year. I can’t say what variety it is. There are so many different Skippers that frequent our area.
