Black-tail doe

Last Wednesday after a rainy morning, the weather calmed down a bit, and I ventured out to do some exploring over the dredger tailings on Mississippi Bar. I saw only one or two other people in the hour or so I was there; but an alert doe took notice of my arrival. She seemed to be all alone, and she took awhile deciding whether to stand her ground and watch me or to disappear among the rock piles. The local deer don’t seem to have any trouble at all negotiating these ankle-turning mountains of boulders!
