I can’t count the number of times over the years I passed through the city of Auburn on Interstate 80 and noticed the old courthouse and the statue of the miner. Each time I promised myself, “One of these days I’m going to stop and check this out.” Well, that day finally arrived — and even though I only paused for a short time on my way elsewhere, I still found plenty of interesting details. Of course, there’s still a lot I didn’t see this time out. I hope to go back and explore the museums — the Gold Country Medical Museum, the Placer County Museum, and the Gold Rush Museum are right at the top of my list.
