The Adventure Continues… Snow Show

Here in Northern California, we’ve had quite a lot of snowfall in the Sierra Nevada this week. It might just be enough to merit an additional snow survey later this month, but I’m not sure how much impact it’s going to have on the overall poor outlook for our current year. In this 2011 episode of Visiting, Huell takes a look back to 1995, a very good water year for Southern California (and for Northern California, as well). The scenery is beautiful, and it’s clear these hydrologists enjoy their work. Performing the snow surveys is a serious business, but this particular survey is not without its moments of comedy — walking on snowshoes isn’t nearly as easy as it looks!

Huell treks to Mammoth Lakes with the Deptartment of Water and Power to look at the immense snow pack and how it relates to Southern California’s water supply.
