This creek, the Kirkwood Branch, empties into Grapevine Lake
Back in mid June 2023 I shared a few photos from a day hike along the Bluestem Trail in Southlake, Texas. Despite wet weather and warm, humid conditions, I really enjoyed the trek because, although I had visited that part of the Dallas-Fort Worth area many times, I had never had the chance to do much exploring or hiking. As I explored deeper into the nature preserve, everywhere I looked I found unfamiliar wildflowers. We also had the trail pretty much to ourselves on that Tuesday morning. Since we were in the middle of a long road trip from Northern California to east Texas and back, I never got around to sharing the rest of the photos I shot that day. Thus divided into three posts, here are my favorite images from our walk to Grapevine Lake.
