Buc-ee’s Fort Worth, July 2025

I may never in my life see the inside of another Buc-ee’s store — and I certainly never expected to visit the one in Fort Worth, Texas. The company has stores throughout the much of the U.S., from Florida to Virgina, from Wisconsin to Arizona; thus far, there are no locations in the Pacific Northwest or in California. I’ve since learned that each store has at least 80 to 100 gas pumps, not to mention bright, shiny restrooms that are far more immense than those at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. And unlike the Pilot and Love’s stores I’ve seen (and used) along Interstate 40 between Arizona and Texas, these stores are exclusively for passenger vehicles — no big rigs allowed. I’d already come across a number of news stories about Bucc-ee’s and how much people in Texas love them, but I still wasn’t prepared for what I saw when I walked inside. And a Texas-sized thank you to both Vickie and Vicky for taking me there, providing a chance to put aside the tears for a few minutes and enjoy each other’s laughter.
