L’art Pour l’art

Does anybody remember the Gas Station Cozy project which was first unveiled about seven months ago? Earlier this year, a woman named Jennifer Marsh decided to cover an old, abandoned gas station with a cozy made up of squares of knitting, crochet, and other fiber arts, as well as recycled plastic. In doing so she managed to bring together a […]

Time to check in

I’ve been away for a bit — ran out of things to say, I guess, and then I got very busy. Keeping up a blog is a serious business! It takes dedication, organization, and discipline; and while I’ve got the dedication I don’t have a whole lot of the other two ingredients. Oh, well. This week’s been busy, as I […]

Things I have tried

My purple SKB is not yet finished. Last night I was certain I could finish up the neck trim and then proceed to the sleeves the following morning; but it didn’t work. Instead I ended up ripping out everything I’d done on the neck trim and starting over. Seems I can’t quite work out the difference between RS (right side) […]

So much to knit . . .

. . . and so little time. I’m overwhelmed with all the things I want to get started on! I guess I was a bit lazy when I posted an updated photo of my Simple Knitted Bodice. I thought I should show more than just the finished sleeve, so here’s a better picture, showing all the work I’ve done thus far:   NOTE: The links below are all on Ravelry. I apologize to anyone reading who doesn’t have access. Before the Tour ended I’d already decided to knit this (Ravelry link) shawl. I’ve never knit a shawl before and I don’t really think of myself as a shawl-wearing person; but I do know that I get cold in the wintertime, even just sitting around my house. So why not knit a shawl? She calls it an Ugly Shawl, but I think it’s gorgeous. I plan to use the Berroco Foliage I showed at the end of my last post.   Even before I found that pattern, I’d been contemplating some socks. I’ve got so much pretty sock yarn I’m just dying to try out. I bought the Lang Jawoll with the intention of making the Small Capitals socks from Sensational Knitted Socks . . . but that’s been pushed back for now. I also stumbled across a couple of socks patterns while reading blogs of some of the KAL participants (I’m sorry — I didn’t take note of which blogs […]

Piece by piece

The last few days have been rather hectic, so today I’m just going to toss out a couple of things that have been going on/on my mind lately. I’ve actually got enough blogging material to fill Columbia’s team bus, but some of it will have to wait — although I’m starting to realize it’s better for me to write frequent, […]

Too much to resist

I’ve been at it again — buying yarn which is gorgeous but I honestly have no business buying at the moment. And not just yarn but other stuff which was that completely irresistible thing . . . a Great Deal! I knew I should be worried when the Big Lots moved into my neighborhood. It’s been there for two weeks […]
