Fresh Pond is a short distance east of Pollock Pines and slightly north of the fire zone
I keep on checking the Caldor fire map to see which areas along Highway 50 in El Dorado County may have burned overnight; the fire zone includes both sides of the 50 Corridor, closed for the past week, stretching between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe. As of this morning, the locations in my photos remain outside the dotted line showing active fire boundaries. I recently read that the fire may not be fully contained (surrounded) until sometime in early September.
Camp Sacramento — east of Twin Bridges — is unburned, although it was evacuated as a precaution
Cody Lake, south of Strawberry, is currently at risk, with the fire less than 10 miles away

I found this young tree along the trail from the parking lot to the lake; I only hope it survives to grow to maturity
