During our visit in late May this year, extremely gusty winds prevented me from exploring the entire area of the Mendocino Headlands (at one point, the winds caused a local power outage that affected our rental cabin). But the sky was a beautiful blue, and it was impossible to stay away from the gorgeous coastal views. I managed to find some intriguing little details as I explored the lee side of the headlands, just north of Mendocino Bay and the entrance to the Big River.
