Little North Fork Big River, Mendocino
I’ve shared some of the images from this March 2023 hike before, but to be completely honest, I’m still not entire sure exactly where we were walking. I had found a hike in my trail guide book called Pole Line Trail to Big River Trail which told us to head east on Little Lake Road; but after driving deeper into the forest we got confused and only stubbornness prevented us from turning around. Well, that and a couple of well-placed signs saying “Keep Going!” and “You’re Almost There!” (still wish I had stopped for photos of those). Eventually we found a parking area and chose a path at random. Yes, there was a map posted but if you’re not sure where you’re starting from a map isn’t too helpful! To make things worse, it seems I’ve now lost all the photos I shot with my Canon SL2, and these are the ones I’m left with. Obviously the answer is to try to return and re-create the hike. Maybe one of these days I’ll get the chance to do that.
