Hiking to Mormon Ravine

The sun was out and the temperature was chilly on Friday morning when we headed out to Rattlesnake Bar on Folsom Lake’s north fork. I calculated that if we got out early enough I would see fewer people on the 2.5 mile trek to Avery’s Pond. We did see a few folks — mostly on our way back to the car — but after we passed the pond and continued beyond the pumphouse to the head of the ravine we were alone. We took a few minutes to enjoy the sight and sound of whitewater rushing down from above, then turned back the way we had come. By then, we were both plenty warm and feeling ready for a nap at home!
