So much to knit . . .

. . . and so little time. I’m overwhelmed with all the things I want to get started on! I guess I was a bit lazy when I posted an updated photo of my Simple Knitted Bodice. I thought I should show more than just the finished sleeve, so here’s a better picture, showing all the work I’ve done thus far:   NOTE: The links below are all on Ravelry. I apologize to anyone reading who doesn’t have access. Before the Tour ended I’d already decided to knit this (Ravelry link) shawl. I’ve never knit a shawl before and I don’t really think of myself as a shawl-wearing person; but I do know that I get cold in the wintertime, even just sitting around my house. So why not knit a shawl? She calls it an Ugly Shawl, but I think it’s gorgeous. I plan to use the Berroco Foliage I showed at the end of my last post.   Even before I found that pattern, I’d been contemplating some socks. I’ve got so much pretty sock yarn I’m just dying to try out. I bought the Lang Jawoll with the intention of making the Small Capitals socks from Sensational Knitted Socks . . . but that’s been pushed back for now. I also stumbled across a couple of socks patterns while reading blogs of some of the KAL participants (I’m sorry — I didn’t take note of which blogs […]

Piece by piece

The last few days have been rather hectic, so today I’m just going to toss out a couple of things that have been going on/on my mind lately. I’ve actually got enough blogging material to fill Columbia’s team bus, but some of it will have to wait — although I’m starting to realize it’s better for me to write frequent, […]

I’m having another fit . . .

. . . or perhaps I should say, another fitting. For what must be the sixth time I’ve transferred all of my stitches onto waste yarn so I can be sure that my Simple Knitted Bodice is going in the proper direction(s). It is a little bit tedious to keep doing this, but to my mind it’s well worth the […]

Too much to resist

I’ve been at it again — buying yarn which is gorgeous but I honestly have no business buying at the moment. And not just yarn but other stuff which was that completely irresistible thing . . . a Great Deal! I knew I should be worried when the Big Lots moved into my neighborhood. It’s been there for two weeks […]

Intercalary

“Intercalary: Inserted between other elements or parts; interpolated” — American Heritage Dictionary. Last night as I watched Stage 8 of the Tour I waded into the lace section of my Simple Knitted Bodice. Now, I’m not a veteran lace knitter by any means and it still makes me a tad nervous, especially if I’m attempting to multitask . . . […]

Tour Ups and Downs

Sad news about Liquigas rider Manuel Beltran (formerly of US Postal); I’ve heard conflicting reports about the lab that processed his results. If it’s the same one that handled Floyd Landis’s lab work I have serious doubts. But for the moment, I don’t know enough to make any sort of judgment. I’m also sad about the riders who have had […]

Tour de France Music Video

I originally wanted to post this video, but was not allowed to — so instead, I give you this: In other news, progress is being made on my Simple Knitted Bodice; I’ve joined to knit in the round a little higher than called for in the pattern and am now knitting plain stockinette for another couple of inches before beginning […]
