Flowering Sonoma

Hydrangea at Rio Nido

Not all my attempts at shooting flowers during our recent trip were successful; some of them turned out so blurry as to be embarrassing. I’m still getting the knack of using a camera while walking a dog who has his own agenda! But here are my best efforts of the eye-catching colors spotted both at Rio  Nido along the Russian River and on the bluffs within the Sonoma Coast State Park.

Bird’s-foot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus)

Self-Heal (Prunella vulgaris)

Coast Buckwheat (Eriogonum latifolium)

Coastal tarweed (Madia sativa) and quaking-grass

Gladiolus and zinnia in Rio Nido’s organic Sunrise Garden

Coast paintbrush (Castilleja affinis)

Coastal onion (Allium dichlamydeum)
