The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge for the week of December 6, 2017. Find a little irreverence in your world. This mini dinosaur almost got himself run over before we noticed him hanging out in our driveway this morning. He didn’t seem to mind me poking a camera in his face; in fact, he gave me an impudent stare as he waited for me to finish shooting and go back inside the house. The next time I checked on him, he was gone.

A shot of wild turkey

I’m never too surprised when I come across turkeys while out hiking. They can be fairly challenging to photograph since they tend to move along whenever I look at them too closely — maybe they’re worried I’m sizing them up for the dinner table. I shot these images in late August 2017 near Lew Howard Park in Folsom.

It could be that after last night’s downpour, these pigeons are hoping to dry out their damp feathers. It might also be that they are waiting for the nice lady down the street to put out a pile of food.  But who knows — maybe the birds are just enjoying this morning’s warm sunshine.

Memory Monday, Week 51

Sonoma Coast, December 2004 I spent most of this Christmas holiday trip playing with my Nikon Coolpix 5700 — exploring the depths of color in stones and shells sprinkled with sea water and experimenting with the varied settings while shooting a gorgeous view of the sunset. I still can’t decide which version I like better.
