I’ll admit I’ve never seen a traffic backup on a bike trail before. I guess it was inevitable, given that this was in San Francisco, near the Golden Gate Bridge.

Last Thursday we were standing by the side of the road as the 2018 Amgen Tour of California departed the city of Folsom and climbed through the foothills of Placerville up into the Sierra Nevada mountains to South Lake Tahoe. Here are a few images from our front row seat along the Mormon Emigrant Trail.
