These brilliant flowers nearly leaped out at me as I passed by them on a cold and rainy day! I wasn’t sure my camera would accurately capture the rich red-orange of their petals, so I tried a few different angles to make sure and get it just right.

Peeking into the dark space between the door hinges of the miner’s cabin at Folsom’s Living History Museum — I’m not convinced these are historic newspapers, but I’m still curious as to why they are hidden behind the door!
