Huell takes a tour of the little, quaint town of Locke, founded and settled by the Chinese on the Sacramento River Delta; then he hears ancient Cahuilla Indian bird songs sung by members of the Cahuilla tribe, and participates in a threshing bee and antique engine show in Vista, CA, featuring old farm vehicles and machinery.

California’s history has been enriched by many different cultures, and here are three very good examples — the hard-working Chinese immigrants who built a thriving community on the California Delta; the native Cahuilla Indians and their traditional songs; and modern-day men and women who preserve and celebrate antique steam-operated farming equipment.
