Fish hatchery and weir, July 2017

This morning I paid a visit to the Nimbus Fish Hatchery and hiked around both sides of Nimbus Dam. My main reason was to get some pictures of the weir, which guides salmon and steelhead into the fish ladder. Because of all the rain and snow we’ve had this winter, the gates are open at Nimbus (as well as Folsom Dam), and the American River is running high.
