We don’t get snow at this elevation, but every year around this time our driveway becomes littered with a white camellia blossoms. Usually it’s a scattering of individual petals — but now and then the tree will drop a fully formed flower.

These brilliant flowers nearly leaped out at me as I passed by them on a cold and rainy day! I wasn’t sure my camera would accurately capture the rich red-orange of their petals, so I tried a few different angles to make sure and get it just right.
