Deer hunting
In a little over a month from now, the Big Guy will be off to the mountains to go deer hunting (he hunts with a compound bow). These days I stay home for the actual hunt, but I’ve seen enough pre-season scouting trips to pick up a few things applicable to nature photography. I’ve learned to dress in neutral colors, to walk quietly, and most importantly, to always keep my eyes and ears open, staying alert for any unusual sound or movement. I like to think I’ve developed pretty good “game eyes” — although I’m certain there’s still plenty of wildlife I miss completely! It’s always a bit of a thrill when you’re walking along a trail and suddenly realize you’re being watched by some very curious eyes.
