Over the edge
No matter how many times I gaze upon the Orangevale Palisades — or “the bluffs,” as I usually call them — I never fail to be impressed. In fact, it’s only just occurred to me to wonder whether their formation is entirely natural or if hydraulic mining may have played a part. Of course, I’m not the only one to enjoy the view from the top of these heights, towering over Lake Natoma and Historic Folsom just to the east. Plenty of people choose to ignore the safety fence and get a taste of life on the edge.
But just when I thought I’d seen it all, I came across something yesterday that still has me scratching my head. Apparently two people thought it was a good idea to hang a hammock over the edge of the bluff and spend the afternoon there, basically floating in midair. Wow.
