Up tails all

For a long time, I was purposely avoiding shooting photos of ducks and geese with their tails in the air. Still, after a fragment of poetry from my childhood began running through my head, I decided to start looking for photo ops like the one above. Someone must have let it slip to the birds, though, because they suddenly seem determined that I won’t catch them in such an embarrassing position!

All along the backwater,
Through the rushes tall,
Ducks are a-dabbling
Up tails all!

Ducks’ tails, drakes’ tails,
Yellow feet a-quiver
Yellow bills all out of sight
Busy in the river! — Kenneth Grahame
