Change of focus

I like the image above because, as well as offering a scenic look at Folsom Lake near Salmon Falls, it shows the contrast between trees at the beginning of their life, in their prime, and at the very end. Maybe it would have been a better shot if it showed all of the tree in the foreground; and of course the old tree isn’t a pine like the others. But I still like it.

I had to laugh when I saw this image on my computer. I had meant to shoot the grand house on the hillside with their small vineyard — and instead I got some wild oats stubbornly popping up to take over the picture. But the more I look at it, the more I like it this way. It just goes to show that no matter how well-sculpted your plans are, nature is always right there, just waiting to take over.
