Memory Monday, Week 123

September 1, 2000 — Mom boarded the westbound California Zephyr in Ottumwa, Iowa, and I’m very grateful that she chose to shoot a few photos out the train window as the train rolled across the Great Plains, over the Rockies, through the Nevada flatlands and finally the Sierra Nevada on her trip home. I may never get to travel across the western U.S. by train and have the pleasure of seeing this landscape firsthand, so these photos mean a lot to me. Some of the images may be a bit blurred, but they’re no less beautiful. Thank you, Mom!

Next week, Memory Monday rolls on! My mom just uncovered a big bunch of slides, and I’ll be going through them for quite awhile and sharing many of them here. First up will be some really great images from our 1979 road trip to Canada. I can hardly wait to get started!
