Things beside the road
Even though I shot these photos not in California but on the Arizona/New Mexico state line, I’ve borrowed a title from one of Huell Howser’s episodes today. That’s because if I had more time to spare, this particular spot along I-40 is one that I would love to stop and explore more thoroughly. Of course, it’s fairly touristy, but the location is beautiful — and it’s not every day you see a giant teepee with windows alongside the road!
I’m not sure what some of these signs are about, but they were definitely eye catching.

Billboard in Lupton, Arizona
We paused for a few minutes along the frontage road and found what looked like a long-abandoned gas station. In looking at Google Maps, it seems there was also once a giant domed building just next door known as the Indian Market; but I don’t recall seeing any suggestion of such a structure while we were there.
