The Adventure Continues… California’s Dreamer

I’ve been featuring episodes from Huell Howser’s various TV shows every Wednesday since September 28, 2016, and I still have loads and loads of episodes to go! Although Huell passed away in January 2013, he’s still very much remembered and missed, and he left behind a unique treasury showcasing many of the best parts of the state. This episode of the PBS series Viewfinder (listed in Chapman University’s episode guide as #999) serves as a perfect reminder of what Huell Howser was all about. I’ve often thought that he must have had the best job in the world, and it’s clear Huell would certainly have agreed with that!

The series California’s Gold has offered a one-of-a-kind tour of the Golden State, spiriting viewers off to major attractions, as well as destinations off the beaten path. Each journey offers a chance to meet fellow Californians – to share in their lives and see this state in a new light. How did a reporter from Tennessee become the Golden State’s best-loved chronicler? In this special program, looking back at fifteen wonderful years of California’s Gold (at the time this program aired), Huell recounts the history and evolution of California’s Gold and relives series highlights.
