Well, it’s not quite summer, although around here we may feel like it is when the temperatures get up into the 80 degree (F) range this week. Maybe that’s part of the reason I chose this particular subject to feature today! Yet another double episode, this segment first aired as part of the Visiting series in 1999, and later appeared on California’s Gold on April 27, 2009. I’ve seen other Amphicars on television before; every now and then one will come across the Mecum or Barrett-Jackson auction block on the MotorTrend or History channels. I can imagine the experience of riding in one of these classic cars must be pretty strange — so of course Huell was ready to climb aboard and check it out!

Imagine sitting by the lake on a hot day and watching as a car drives into the water and motors away. Well that’s just what piqued Huell’s interest. Terry Tate’s parents bought their Amphibious Car in the early 60s and have passed it on to Terry. Huell goes to Lake Castaic and gets the ride of his life.
