The Adventure Continues… Zamboni
I don’t know how the weather is in your location, but it would be an understatement for me to say I’ve really had enough of the summer heat! I’m already looking forward to the wintertime; so today I decided to feature a nice cool topic in this episode of California’s Gold, originally aired in April 2001. I’ve never gone ice skating, I’m not really a hockey fan, and I knew very little about the Zamboni; but as a lover of history and great family stories, I enjoyed this segment a lot more than I expected to. And imagining myself in the middle of all that ice wasn’t half bad either!

Huell learns about the machines that clean the ice at ice rinks and professional hockey events around the world. Would you believe the Zamboni was invented right here in sunny Southern California? Huell joins up with the son of the inventor, and visits the factory where it all started. Then he tops off the day with a trip to the Anaheim Pond, home of the Mighty Ducks, to see the Zamboni in action.
