Sidewalk archaeology

I was strolling through the quiet neighborhoods of Roanoke, Texas, when I happened to notice some fallen leaves on the sidewalk. Except, these leaves didn’t rustle underfoot, because they were imprinted into the cement! At first I thought it was a decorative feature created on purpose, but I could only find these natural decorations under the trees on a short stretch of pavement. I can’t help wondering if someday these impressions will be viewed as fascinating relics of a bygone age. Further along in my walk I did discover a rather endearing set of footprints; they reminded me of something similar I saw a couple of years ago in a certain West Coast city rather than the plains of Texas.
