Walking Roanoke, Part 2
I have a bit of regret now that I didn’t shoot more street photography as I walked around our small Roanoke, Texas, neighborhood; at the time I was super focused on finding some bright red cardinals! And as I mentioned before, most of my time was spent indoors thanks to the warm temperatures. This small and well-established neighborhood was full of beautiful mature trees and a fascinating mix of typical ranch houses; larger, more sprawling residences; duplex and apartment buildings; and one or two more unique homes. I was also surprised to find quite a few vacant lots available for sale.
The cowboy statue sits along Byron Nelson Boulevard (part of State Highway 114) at the entrance to a strip mall that includes the Roanoke Police Department. There’s also a small bison statue nearby which I captured with my camera several years ago but missed this time around.
South of Byron Nelson Boulevard and tucked between highways 114 and 370 sits the Cinemark Theater; it’s quite impossible to miss, but I had never noticed the paintings on either side of the building before.
