The Adventure Continues… California Communities: Alameda

I have some very fond memories of Alameda, California, since we made frequent visits between 1986 and 2000 — especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas — back when the Big Guy’s parents lived on nearby Bay Farm Island. I also recall scrambling around on the Alameda rock wall at Encinal Beach a few times while the Big Guy would do some salt-water fishing. Though I never got the chance to really explore central Alameda, I loved seeing the small, well-tended Victorian homes along Lincoln Avenue and crossing the Tidal Canal at the Fruitvale or High Street bridges. Huell starts off this episode with a very hearty breakfast, followed by a visit to a beautiful and historic movie palace. There is so much to see in this half-hour episode, and it all fills me with some serious feelings of nostalgia.

Huell spotlights some modern uses for the historic Alameda Naval Air Station, and then takes a tour of the Alameda Theater, built in 1932 and newly restored.
