Looking for a sign
A couple of years ago when I first noticed this large sign next to U.S. 101 in Ukiah a wave of nostalgia washed over me. I just knew I had seen it before, in an entirely different location — namely the Sacramento area. It was one of those random childhood memories that leaps out at me when I least expect it. But I’m convinced it was a true memory, because even as a small passenger one of my favorite hobbies was reading road signs.
I’m still not sure exactly where I used to see it, but I did find a fascinating web site, Roadside Architecture.com, which tells me that yet another of these mobile home park signs, dating from the late 1950s and early 1960s, was located in the Bay Area city of San Jose.
