Through his eyes

Snow in Nice, California — March 2021

I may have considered myself the photographer in our family, but the Big Guy shot a lot of photos too, using his smart phone. I recently went through his collection; and while I found that most of them featured whatever fish he had caught that day, he also liked to share with me some of the cool things he noticed while he was outdoors. These include shots of bucks near the American River on Rossmoor Bar and otters in the Delta; historic bridge abutments and bedrock mortars at Folsom Lake; and views of the Northern California coast as well as rock formations in Arizona and New Mexico. I feel like at least some of his photos deserve to be shared, because even though he didn’t use fancy equipment and his images weren’t always crystal clear, he was out there shooting pictures of things he truly cared about — and that’s all that really matters.
