Ninja turtle
It’s not too surprising that a pond-dwelling turtle would be sunning himself on a log; but I never even noticed him sitting there until I looked at the image on my computer. If that’s not a ninja turtle, I don’t know what is!

Our warm weather has kicked in, and the mosquitos are ravenous (ask me how I know). I shot these photos a couple of weeks ago at the American River, near the William B. Pond Recreation Area in Carmichael. I already miss those cloudy, cooler days!

I think it would be fascinating to learn where each of these trees originally came from; there’s an awful lot of them flowing downriver this year and settling along the shoreline.
