Scenic Sunday
There’s really only one negative thing that I can say about both of our visits to the Little America Hotel in Flagstaff, Arizona. On each occasion, we stayed for only one night before traveling on; and while it was unavoidable, one night is not nearly enough time to explore the area. Both the Big Guy and I feel that we’re […]
We’ve traveled along Interstate 40 through Southern California and Arizona enough times now that most of the rest areas have become familiar stopping places. Some of the amenities we find are less than impressive — although we sincerely appreciate that they exist at all. There is nothing quite like the disappointment and anguish of the long-distance road tripper who finds […]
There’s always so much beautiful scenery along Interstate 40 in Arizona. Much of it I don’t manage to shoot because I’m driving and don’t really want to stop every few minutes. But once the Big Guy takes over driving in the afternoon, I can point my camera at whatever I like.
My last group of pictures from our overnight stop in Flagstaff last June includes images from late afternoon on the forest path as well as a couple of views of the area which I shot the next morning. The scene outside our hotel room balcony was so welcoming that it was extremely tempting to stay over another night! But we […]
When I took my camera and started out on the trail at our hotel in Flagstaff, Arizona, the last thing on my mind was taking advantage of the afternoon golden hour. All I wanted was to stretch my legs and decompress from two long days of driving! It was early June and the southwest monsoon season had yet to start; […]
Here are a few more images from my walk along the nature trail at the Little America Hotel in Flagstaff, Arizona, last June. I was quite happy to have the path mostly to myself (the Big Guy had chosen to ignore the trail and set off on his own, cross country), and the clouds and cooler late afternoon temperatures were […]
I tend to write a lot about and share images of my favorite California city, San Francisco. But today’s post has absolutely nothing to do with the City by the Bay, because these photos were shot in northern Arizona. The San Francisco Peaks lie just north of Flagstaff and include the highest point in Arizona (Humphreys Peak, 12, 637 ft/3,852 […]
The 1.5-mile walking path behind our hotel in Flagstaff, Arizona, was exactly what we needed to stretch our legs and decompress from two days of desert driving. Our room wasn’t half bad, either. We hope to get back there at some point and maybe stay longer than one night! My title today is borrowed from a song on the original […]
