Vivite diu et prosperate
I’ve seen one or two of these cactus plants growing in yards near my neighborhood. They are a variety of prickly pear. I don’t know if the homeowners realize they have an edible fruit growing on their cactus — or maybe they just don’t want to risk getting skewered.
I’ve been amazed at how many bright blooms I’ve been seeing in the last couple of weeks, just wandering around local neighborhood streets. Luckily I’ve been able to capture a few using my small Finepix AX rather than just my mobile phone. But it all depends on how impatient my energetic walking companion happens to be at the moment. As you can see, there are times when I have a tough time keeping him in the frame! I make sure to thank him whenever he pauses long enough for me to snap a non-blurry image.
All right, today wasn’t completely cloudy, although we did get some rain last night. In fact, the temperature felt wonderful to me, with just the right combination of breeze and sunshine.
