This week, show us the effect of time and the elements.

On walks around my neighborhood in the past few months I’ve been noticing small decorated stones left in random places, like outside the door of the local CVS Pharmacy or at the corner of a busy intersection. I had no idea this was now a popular trend, and I never thought to pick one up and examine it, although I have photographed a couple.

This holiday-themed stone, lying at the edge of someone’s front yard, hasn’t fared too well in the two weeks since Christmas. I’m not sure if it was meant to be a snowman or a Santa Claus, but the colorful combination of bright red and white is still eye-catching, even as the design melts into obscurity.
