These days there are so many wild turkeys wandering around the area that I’m not really surprised when a gang of them turn up in my front yard. They periodically cruise through my neighborhood looking for things to eat; and while I’m never very surprised, I still find it a great excuse to grab my camera and try to get a few good shots.

On this particular day, I tried to slip out my front door quietly to prevent the birds from fleeing the scene — but one of the hens took fright and flew up on my neighbors’ roof, where she stayed, squawking down at me in mild panic as her companions carried on strolling south along the street without her.

She eventually came down and presumably found her way back to her flock. I’m fairly sure our neighbors did NOT have turkey for dinner that night!
