The Adventure Continues… California Missions
California schoolkids learn all about the history of our state when they reach the fourth grade, and that includes the California missions. Throughout the three centuries since their construction, these 21 historic California missions have experienced destruction from fires, earthquakes, and neglect. Only this week the San Gabriel Mission in Los Angeles was devastated by a fire in the sanctuary. Luckily, the altar as well as most of the historic items and artwork escaped with little or no damage. This episode of California’s Gold is part of a series; you can find the rest of the series here.
Huell visits these three Missions in this episode:
San Gabriel de Arcangel
San Fernando Rey de Espana
