In the fire zone

As I’ve watched the news about the Caldor fire in the El Dorado Forest, I can’t help thinking about our June daytrip up Highway 50 to Cody Lake. That area, which also contains a Scout camp, seems to be in the path of the flames. The Big Guy had been planning to look for deer around there during the archery season.

Of course, the spoiling of our plans is nothing at all compared to the destruction of the forest and the impact it has on wild creatures. I’m not sure how much this area will be impacted, but I keep reminding myself that if it does burn, nature will restore the habitat, in time.
