The Adventure Continues… Volcano
I don’t think I’ve ever visited the town of Volcano, but it does seem that it would be ideally located as a base for exploring this part of historic Amador County. It’s reasonably close to both Indian Grinding Rock SHP and Black Chasm Cavern, which has been on my bucket list for quite awhile now. For many years, visitors searching for Daffodil Hill (now permanently closed) discovered the nearby community of Volcano. If you’re into gold rush history, old architecture, or rural California landscapes, you could do a lot worse than heading off to Volcano for a day — or a few days — of exploration.
Huell journeys to Volcano, one of the Mother Lode’s most picturesque towns. Located in Amador County, some say it’s named for its setting in a bowl-shaped valley, which early miners thought was caused by a volcano.
