I had a lot of fun on our most recent coastal trip exploring the immediate area around the cabin where we stayed. Sometimes you don’t have to venture very far at all to find fascinating and unexpected treasures!

Found this guy in the redwood grove and tried in vain to identify him

I was trying to figure out what sort of plant this was…

…until I noticed a bunch of “slots” and realized it was made of ceramic!
